Wazir Akbar Khan: Greatest Hero of the First Anglo-Afghan war

One remembers the heart of the Afghan is made of steel. During the 19th century, imperialistic and colonic British forces fought two wars in unsuccessful attempts to subjugate the Afghans. A man’s worth is no greater than the worth of his ambitions. Here the man of Barakzai dynasty, who refused to serve and revolted against the Englishmen.

He played a huge role in the First Anglo-Afghan War, which lasted from 1839 to 1842. He showed the true wrath of Afghans by massacring the Army of Elphinstone, infamously called the worst British military disaster. He sent a message by sparing the famous surgeon William Brydon who lived to tell the tale. He led the victory and then ruled Afghanistan for years until he was poisoned by traitorous Englishmen. He lived shortly only for 29 years, yet his life was full of glories and legendaries. Only in his death can a king live forever.
