Maharawal Amar Singh, son of Maharawal Sabal Singh, the rightful ruler of Jaisalmer who victoriously fought a war to snatch his rights, was the most successful Bhati ruler of recent past.
During his rule the rival state of Jodhpur got into deep trouble with the Mughal Empire. Jaisalmer took the role of the paramount Hindu power in the west.
The Eastern frontier was expanded all the way to Pokharan and Phalodi. Barmer was firmly under the control of Jaisalmer. In the west, the golden red banners were raised all the way to Indus. In the north, Jaisalmeri forces, for first time in generations, crossed Satluj.
At 218,000 square kilometre Jaisalmer was perhaps the largest and most powerful Hindu kingdom. It controlled all trade routes between West Asia and the Indian subcontinent. The city of Jaisalmer thrived as the primary center of trade and commerce in South Asia, fulfilling a role similar to Hong Kong in North East Asia.
Sindhi, Saraiki, and Jaisalmeri languages flourished. Hindustani Classical music was adapted for more vernacular use, impact of that could very well be felt today, in the form of very refined traditional folk music of the far South West.
