Pothohari Women

The Pothoharis are a Vedic Arya ethno-linguistic group, found in West Jammu of Greater Jammu Kashmir along with Pothohar Plateau in the extreme north of Punjab. People of West Jammu aka Poonchi-Mirpuris refer themselves Pahari. The dialects are Mirpuri, Poonchi, Chibhali and Potwari. The prominent ancient clans who live in this region are Gakhars, Janjuas, Chibs (Katoch), Manhas (Jamwal) and Jarals. Pothoharis, Dogras and Himachalis are siblings culturally and linguistically, also these are part of the greater Western Pahari.
