Hakim Khan Suri

The Pashtun General whose laid down his life for the famous Maharana Pratap.

Hakim Khan Suri (also known as Hakim Soz Khan Afghan) was an Afghan/Pashtun warrior of Sur/Suri clan, descended from Sher Shah Suri. He was a chief of artillery of Maharana Pratap and fought bravely in the Battle of Haldighati against the imperialistic and expansionistic Mughal king, Akbar during 1576. He was a loyal general and treasure to Maharana Pratap. He helped Maharana to survive the battle so he could have another opportunity against the Mughals.

The Battle of Haldighati has been wrongly perceived as a Hindu-Muslim battle. Both armies had a mix of Hindus and Muslims. Whereas Hakim Khan Sur fought for Maharana Pratap, Akbar's army was commanded by the Rajput king of Jaipur, Man Singh.
